Solmate Socks creates hand-finished, mismatched socks in
colorful, unique patterns. The central Vermont-based company sells to
retailers and directly to the public. The premium sock company has chosen
an US-based outsourcing call center to take orders and
interact with customers.
Solmate Socks is headed by Marianne Wakerlin, who is known as
“The Socklady.” “It’s been great to have them handling our calls,” said
Wakerlin. “My staff no longer has to spend all day Monday handling our many
orders from the weekend, and our customers love reaching a helpful, live
agent every time they call.”
Wakerlin started her business after she made a huge hit with
the more than 100 pairs of socks she knitted for her family and friends. The
colorful and complex socks are now made from yarns that are dyed, spun, and
knit at small, family-owned businesses in the U.S. They are hand-finished
and purposefully mismatched.
The whimsical socks have developed a cult following among
hikers, bikers, and other enthusiasts of high-quality footwear. They were
raved over by Whoopi Goldberg on ABC’s “The View.” The socks are made for
everyone from infants to adults in materials like Merino wool and cotton.
They sell for about $20 a pair. The company also helps groups use the socks
to raise funds for charity projects.
Wakerlin chose them after meeting representatives of the call center at a
government sponsored
conference. “We chose them
because both companies were started by entrepreneurs who have the same high
standards for dealing with their employees and their customers,” Wakerlin
said. “It has been a great fit right from the start.”
“We’re thrilled to have such a premium client onboard,”
quipped the call center CEO. “Their commitment to their employees and customers
is as high as our own. We think our two companies make a fine pair – pun
intended – and we’re delighted to help Solmate Socks put its best foot
forward to the public.”
